# We Tried to Hit the Limits. Here Is Where Each Provider Stopped Us.

Every provider publishes limit tiers. We worked through them to find out what the tiers actually require and how long each step takes. Our reference for the published-terms case was [an on-ramp that publishes its limits](https://collectnexchange.com/services/crypto-onramp).

## The tiers, consistently

**Email and phone only.** Little or no fiat purchase. Present at all five providers.

**Identity verified.** Document plus a liveness check. Unlocked somewhere between one thousand and fifteen thousand per month, varying widely.

**Address verified.** Utility bill or bank statement within three months. Roughly doubled the ceiling everywhere.

**Source of funds verified.** Documentary evidence of origin. Unlocked the range above roughly fifty thousand.

## How long each took

Identity: minutes to two hours, automated everywhere.

Address: two hours to two days. One provider rejected a bank statement because the address was on a second page we had not included. Send whole documents.

Source of funds: three to nine days. This is the step that requires planning.

## What the source of funds step actually wanted

Not a statement showing a balance. A statement showing money arriving from an identifiable origin: salary, a dividend, proceeds of a sale. Payment companies face this at a different scale, which is what [crypto rails built for fintech companies](https://collectnexchange.com/industries/fintech) addresses.

We initially sent a balance statement at three providers and all three came back asking for the same thing again. That round trip cost two days each time.

## The rolling limit surprise

Two providers applied annual limits on a rolling basis rather than a calendar one.

We assumed a reset in January. It did not happen, because the limit looked back twelve months from the current date. Worth checking which applies.

## The cumulative trigger

At two providers, a small purchase was held because it pushed the month's cumulative total over a threshold.

The individual transaction was under a hundred euros. People assume limits apply per transaction and they apply to totals.

## What we would do for a business

Complete every tier during onboarding, including source of funds, before capacity is needed.

Confirm the monthly ceiling in writing. Two providers gave us different figures verbally and in the account interface.

And ask whether limits are calendar or rolling, because it changes planning entirely.

Providers that set corporate ceilings during onboarding rather than at first use remove this whole category of problem. That was the single clearest difference between the providers we would use again and the ones we would not. On execution specifically, [the published coverage list](https://collectnexchange.com/company/supported-countries) publishes its fee schedule and corporate terms in full.
