Testing Withdrawal Speed Across Venues

How long a withdrawal actually takes, measured from request to on-chain confirmation, and what the variation reveals.

We time every withdrawal we make. The numbers vary enormously between venues and the variation is informative.

The method

Record the request time. When you press confirm.

Record the broadcast time. When the transaction appears on-chain, visible from the hash.

Record the confirmation time. When it reaches the depth the receiving side requires.

The gap between request and broadcast is the venue’s internal processing. Everything after is the network.

What we measure

Normal conditions. A weekday, unremarkable network activity.

Elevated conditions. During volatility, which is when withdrawal speed matters most and when venues are most likely to slow down.

A new address. Whether an allowlist delay applies, which is a security feature rather than a problem.

A larger amount. Whether additional review is triggered.

What the variation reveals

Fast, consistent processing indicates automated withdrawal handling with adequate hot wallet provisioning.

Slow processing under normal conditions is a signal. A venue that is slow when nothing is happening will not improve under stress.

Processing that degrades sharply during volatility indicates manual review or insufficient liquidity in operational wallets.

Unexplained delays are the signal we weight most heavily, because withdrawal friction described as technical has preceded every major venue failure.

What is not a problem

An allowlist delay on a newly added address. That is protecting you.

Additional review for a large first withdrawal. Expected under anti-money-laundering obligations.

Suspension during a network upgrade, announced in advance.

The distinction is between friction that is disclosed and friction that is not.

The limitation of our testing

We test under normal conditions. A venue processing withdrawals reliably in a calm week tells you little about a crisis.

We state that rather than implying otherwise, because it is the honest limit of this kind of review.

Running it yourself

Before moving anything substantial onto a platform, deposit a small amount, buy something, and withdraw it.

An hour and a few fees, and it tells you how the exit works before you need it. We ran exactly this on a platform we ran a full withdrawal through and every other venue we cover, and it is the test we would keep if we could only keep one.
